Zi Hui's Rationale for student participation marks

Dear Professor Blackstone, In the blink of an eye, the trimester is coming to an end. For the past 13 weeks in this module, I gained tremendous knowledge in presentation and communication skills. I have been participating enthusiastically during class, hence I believe that I should get a "good" grade in student participation. I have been attentive not only to you but also to my peers whenever anyone is speaking during class as I believe that paying full attention to the person speaking is the most basic form of courtesy. If I can't give my attention to other people speaking, why should I expect others to listen to me when I'm speaking? That was the thought that always came to my mind. I'm always proactive in giving my peers from other groups feedback for improvements and also pay close attention to my peer's feedback, as our end goal is to be more proficient in writing and communication. Through feedback from you and my peers, I was able to understand my mista

Zi Hui's critical reflection

I had a fruitful experience taking on this module for the past 13 weeks and gained immense knowledge. Through this module, I learned the ability to capture audiences' attention through the effective use of space, expanding my arsenal in presentation. At the same time, this module allowed me to refresh the knowledge gained in the course of my study back in the polytechnic before serving the nation, such as paraphrasing a citation which was required in the reader's response essay. This module also honed my critical thinking in engineering concepts where I learned to weigh the pros and cons of each specific product when choosing the ideal product used for our solution. And I believe that it is important to have the ability to think critically in one's career. Doing a group project requires tremendous time and effort, especially finding the right sources when researching, and juggling other projects from other modules in this fast-paced trimester. There were times when our sche

According to the article, “10 Reasons Why The Hyundai Kona Electric Is Better Than The Tesla Model 3” (Moore, 2023), the KONA Electric Vehicle (EV) offers a range of four distinct regenerative braking settings, spanning from level zero to three. The smart regenerative braking system employs its onboard radar sensor to automatically adjust the amount of regenerative braking according to different road conditions such as changes in steepness on roads or traffic conditions ahead. This allows the state of charge of the vehicle to be maintained at a healthy level. The KONA also has “one-paddle mode,” which allows users to stop the vehicle by pulling and holding the left paddle located behind the steering wheel instead of using conventional brakes. The smart regenerative system, smart recuperation system, and “one-paddle mode” allow the EV to adapt and maximize energy recuperation under any road conditions, contributing to greener transport emissions and a step closer to curbing global warm

Zi Hui's contributions on research

1.     I researched the lift system process when the cabin is overloaded by searching how the lift overload system works on Google Scholar. 2.     I researched how lifts detect the weight within the cabin and found out the usage of load cells on lifts to detect lift overload through articles and journals. 3.     I thought about the practicality of using thermal imaging sensors as our solution, hence I researched on usage of thermal imaging sensors to identify human presence based on body heat radiating 4.     I also researched how smart cameras capture human presence and calculate the number of people based on the number of heads and shoulders through Google Scholar and reliable articles. 5.     I researched how passive infra-red operates and the usage of Passive infra-red in detecting motion in enclosed environments. 6.     Drafted up on the Problem statement. 7. I researched the statistics such as the number of lifts Otis has maintained and explained the benefits Elevatenow
