Zi Hui's critical reflection

I had a fruitful experience taking on this module for the past 13 weeks and gained immense knowledge. Through this module, I learned the ability to capture audiences' attention through the effective use of space, expanding my arsenal in presentation. At the same time, this module allowed me to refresh the knowledge gained in the course of my study back in the polytechnic before serving the nation, such as paraphrasing a citation which was required in the reader's response essay. This module also honed my critical thinking in engineering concepts where I learned to weigh the pros and cons of each specific product when choosing the ideal product used for our solution. And I believe that it is important to have the ability to think critically in one's career.

Doing a group project requires tremendous time and effort, especially finding the right sources when researching, and juggling other projects from other modules in this fast-paced trimester. There were times when our schedules clashed with other commitments, we learned to be flexible and schedule a meeting ahead of time when everyone was available. Through this project, we also learn about one library, which is a vital search engine that is useful beyond this module, and I can use for my future research for the upcoming modules.

The presentation was the biggest learning curve for me as it taught me the danger of memorizing the script and the importance of knowing the flow of your topic. I made mistakes unknowingly when presenting and with the help of the feedback from Professor Blackstone and my peers, I was able to identify my flaws in presenting and it will serve me as a reminder when presenting in the future.

In conclusion, although this module is coming to an end, I am glad to have this opportunity to hone my presentation skills and the ability to think critically. This module gave me a glimpse of working on a project among teammates on a packed schedule and how I could have done better. I believe that the skills and knowledge gained through this module will always be relevant in my future.
